\u00ab\u00a0City Of Dreams\u00a0\u00bb and the previous single \u00ab\u00a0We Will Make You Proud\u00a0\u00bb were made after the 11th album was finished because I think that after this album a singles retrospective might be released. But the retrospective got finally released before the 11th album rather than after as I originally thought.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I also thought pretentious (and a risky business) to include on a greatest hits, new songs to become singles later down the way. But many artists do that. For instance, Madonna included her new songs \u00ab\u00a0Justify My Love\u00a0\u00bb and \u00ab\u00a0Rescue Me\u00a0\u00bb on her carreer retrospective \u00ab\u00a0The Immaculate Collection\u00a0\u00bb released in 1990.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Depeche Mode did that too including as early as 1985 \u00ab\u00a0Shake The Disease\u00a0\u00bb and \u00ab\u00a0It’s Called A Heart\u00a0\u00bb on their singles collection \u00ab\u00a0THE SINGLES 81-85\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sandra also did that including her cover \u00ab\u00a0Everlasting Love\u00a0\u00bb and new song \u00ab\u00a0Stop For A Minute\u00a0\u00bb on her singles collection \u00ab\u00a0TEN ON ONE The Singles\u00a0\u00bb released in 1987. A lot of artists I admire did just that. And their new songs were often one of my favorites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So now it’s very hard for me to do a compilation without at least including 1 or 2 brand new tracks. So \u00ab SINGLES Volume 1 \u00bb included new track \u00ab Life Is Short \u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And retrospective \u00ab SINGLES Volume 2 \u00bb included both new songs \u00ab Play My Way \u00bb and \u00ab No East Feat \u00bb. But it’s a very daring thing to include a new song and declare it would be a hit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thankfully I don’t call my singles retrospectives \u00ab The Hits \u00bb, \u00ab Greatest Hits \u00bb or something like that because imagine after its release that the single is a flop. It would be embarrassing wouldn’t it ?! Ah ah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In fact in retrospect if it hadn’t already be made to be a single \u00ab We Will Make You Proud \u00bb may not have been one. But \u00ab City Of Dreams \u00bb certainly would.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’ve very very proud of the music \u00ab City Of Dreams \u00bb. I wouldn’t have mind to end my music carreer on a track like this because both the music and the drums are brillant, I love them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I love it so much and it matches so much the style and atmosphere of the next album that it could have made the cut, if it hadn’t been made after. And it might still would. I might add it as a latest addition at the last minute. It would fit so well at the end of that album, so well indeed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I often like when I do extra-tracks or b-side for a specific single to do opposite themes for the song on the b-side of a single. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And since this single is called something…dreams. I had to had the word something…nightmare on the b-side. And that’s how \u00ab The Nighmare In On \u00bb was made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the styles of the 2 songs don’t match at all. If \u00ab City Of Dreams \u00bb is more dark pop like, \u00ab The Nightmare Is On \u00bb on the other hand is more festive and Italo Disco in style. But then again : opposites so it works quite well as an ensemble as strange as it might seem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And since the last B-sides collection \u00ab BESIDES Volume 3 \u00bb will end with \u00ab We Will Make You Proud \u00bb single b-side \u00ab The Best We Can \u00bb, I’m very glad \u00ab The Nightmare Is On \u00bb might start the next BESIDES album because it is so good and works so well as a starting point of a new collection too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I know a lot of people are against using AI in creations. But I’m not against AI at all because I think it can help create very beautiful things like this image for instance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However when it comes to my music, I don’t use AI nor do I entend to use it in the future. No offense to everyone using it but it’s like samples, I never ever use them. It’s just not my thing. But every creation is worthy whether it’s using AI or not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I sometimes did use samples however in the past in my music, but never on tracks released as The Edit King.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I will make a confession however : the only time I sampled something on my tracks was when I used the marvelous clap drum that Dua Lipa used on her song \u00ab Physical \u00bb because I loved this song so very much and I found this particular clap sound very unique. But I doubt anyone can find the track I did used it on since it’s very well buried into the mix. So good hunting if you dare to find it, ah ah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another \u00ab special thing \u00bb I did more as an hommage to an already existant song is on my first album I started my track \u00ab Hot Like Lava \u00bb exactly the same way the track \u00ab Just Dance \u00bb by Lady Gaga starts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I realized I had the exact same sound as her intro, I couldn’t help to try to start my track the same way, but right after the intro my track changes into something else. But it’s true I did that as an obvious and wanted hommage to another cult song I loved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other than these 2 examples I often try to stay safe away from samples and things that could generate copyright issues or controversies. A lot of artists use interpolations (like Ava Max often does) but I don’t. It’s just not my thing. Even though my extensive musical background and knowledge could allow me to do it. But I chose not to as a personal rule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

M\u00eame si, au bout du compte la compil est sortie avant au lieu de sortir apr\u00e8s comme pr\u00e9vu originellement. .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

J’ai toujours trouv\u00e9 assez pr\u00e9tentieux (et risqu\u00e9) d’inclure dans des compilations de hits des nouveaux titres pour devenir plus tard des sorties en single. Mais en fait \u00e9norm\u00e9ment d’artistes font cela. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alors maintenant pour moi c’est toujours difficile je trouve de faire une compilation de singles sans inclure au moins 1 ou 2 titres in\u00e9dits. Ainsi \u00ab\u00a0SINGLES Volume 1\u00a0\u00bb incluait le nouveau titre \u00ab\u00a0Life Is Short\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Et ma 2\u00e8me retrospective de singles \u00ab\u00a0SINGLES Volume 2\u00a0\u00bb incluait 2 nouveaux morceaux \u00ab\u00a0Play My Way\u00a0\u00bb et \u00ab\u00a0No East Feat\u00a0\u00bb. Mais je trouve en r\u00e8gle g\u00e9n\u00e9ral tr\u00e8s pr\u00e9tentieux et risqu\u00e9 d’inclure un nouveau titre en pensant que \u00e7a fera un tube d’embl\u00e9e ou tout du moins un titre digne de devenir un prochain single.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fort heureusement je n’ai jamais eu la pr\u00e9tention d’appeler mes compilations de singles \u00ab\u00a0Les Hits\u00a0\u00bb ou \u00ab\u00a0Greatest Hits\u00a0\u00bb (les meilleurs hits) ou quelque chose comme \u00e7a car imaginez ensuite la honte si justement ce nouveau titre fait un flop, ah ah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En fait si d\u00e8s le d\u00e9part \u00ab\u00a0We Will Make You Proud\u00a0\u00bb n’avait pas \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9crit pour devenir un prochain single, il est fort probable qu’il ne l’aurait sans doute pas \u00e9t\u00e9. Mais \u00ab\u00a0City Of Dreams\u00a0\u00bb oui par contre, \u00e7a c’est certain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Car je suis tr\u00e8s tr\u00e8s fier de la musique de \u00ab\u00a0City Of Dreams\u00a0\u00bb. J’aime tellement ce morceau que \u00e7a ne m’aurait m\u00eame pas g\u00ean\u00e9 d’arr\u00eater ma carri\u00e8re de musicien sur un titre aussi chouette car je trouve la musique et la batterie de ce morceau sont juste g\u00e9niales \u00e0 mon humble avis bien s\u00fbr.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

J’aime tellement ce morceau et il matche tellement avec le style et l’atmosph\u00e8re du 11\u00e8me album qu’il aurait tr\u00e8s bien pu en faire parti, si ce morceau n’avait pas \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9crit bien apr\u00e8s. Mais je ne m’interdis pas m\u00eame de l’inclure \u00e0 l’album au bout du compte \u00e0 la derni\u00e8re minute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lorsque j’\u00e9cris un morceau qui est pr\u00e9vu pour \u00eatre la face B d’un single d\u00e8s le d\u00e9part, j’aime bien que les th\u00e8mes de la face A et de la face B soit des concepts oppos\u00e9s. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ainsi puisque ce single s’appelait quelque chose incluant le mot …dreams (r\u00eaves) je devais avoir le mot inverse en titre de sa face B. Elle devait s’appelait quelque chose…nightmare (cauchemar) en face B. C’est ainsi qu’est n\u00e9 le titre \u00ab\u00a0The Nighmare In On\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mais le style de ces 2 morceaux ne matchent pas du tout. Si \u00ab\u00a0City Of Dreams \u00bb a un style assez dark pop (de pop sombre), \u00ab\u00a0The Nightmare Is On\u00a0\u00bb, lui, d’un autre c\u00f4t\u00e9 est plus festif et a un style qui ressemble plus \u00e0 de l’Italo Disco qu’autre chose. Mais l\u00e0 encore, aussi \u00e9trange que cela puisse para\u00eetre, les deux titres fonctionnent c\u00f4te \u00e0 c\u00f4te tellement ils sont des oppos\u00e9s stylistiques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Et puisque la derni\u00e8re collection de face B \u00ab\u00a0BESIDES Volume 3\u00a0\u00bb se terminera avec la face B du single de \u00ab\u00a0We Will Make You Proud\u00a0\u00bb : \u00ab\u00a0The Best We Can\u00a0\u00bb, je suis tr\u00e8s heureux d’imaginer que le titre \u00ab\u00a0The Nightmare Is On\u00a0\u00bb commencera la prochaine compilation de titres bonus BESIDES qui viendra car ce titre est un tr\u00e8s bon d\u00e9but pour commencer une nouvelle collection de titres qui s’annonce d\u00e9j\u00e0 tr\u00e8s plaisante. .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Je suis conscient qu’\u00e9norm\u00e9ment de personnes sont contre l’utilisation de l’intelligence artificielle pour composer des cr\u00e9ations de toutes sortes mais ce n’est pas mon cas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Je n’ai rien contre l’utilisation de l’intelligence artificielle personnellement car je vois comme dans le cas de cette magnifique image que l’on peut faire des choses tr\u00e8s belles en utilisant l’IA. Cette image en est la preuve, entre autres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cependant lorsqu’il s’agit de mes compositions musicales, je n’utilise jamais l’intelligence artificielle pour composer mes musiques. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Je ne souhaite pas offenser ceux qui le font mais c’est un peu comme les samples, je ne les utilise jamais non plus. C’est une r\u00e8gle pour moi. Mais toutes les cr\u00e9ations sont valables pour moi qu’elles utilisent l’intelligence artificielle ou non. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cependant il m’est arriv\u00e9, par le pass\u00e9 d’utiliser des samples dans ma musique, mais jamais dans les morceaux que j’ai publi\u00e9 en tant que The Edit King.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Toutefois j’admets que dans un de mes morceaux j’ai inclus un sample et un seuf, il s’agit du son de batterie de clap utilis\u00e9 par la merveilleuse Dua Lipa dans son titre \u00ab\u00a0Physical\u00a0\u00bb car j’aime \u00e9norm\u00e9ment cette chanson et ce son de clap particulier et assez unique je l’avoue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mais je doute que quiqonque puisse retrouver dans lequel de mes morceaux je l’ai utilis\u00e9 puisque ce son est tr\u00e8s bien enfoui dans une de mes productions les plus denses. Moi-m\u00eame je ne me souviens m\u00eame plus dans quel morceau j’ai fait \u00e7a. Alors bonne chance et bonne chance \u00e0 ceux qui tenterait de trouver dans quel morceau je l’ai utilis\u00e9, ah ah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Une autre \u00ab\u00a0chose sp\u00e9ciale \u00bb que j’ai faite en tant qu’hommage \u00e0 un titre existant que j’amais beaucoup. Sur mon 1er album \u00ab\u00a0ROBOTIC HYPNOTIC\u00a0\u00bb en tant que clin d’oeil j’ai commenc\u00e9 mon morceau \u00ab\u00a0Hot Like Lava\u00a0\u00bb exactement de la m\u00eame mani\u00e8re que commence le titre culte \u00ab\u00a0Just Dance\u00a0\u00bb de Lady Gaga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quand je me suis rendu compte que j’avais exactement le m\u00eame son qu’elle, je n’ai pas pu m’emp\u00eacher de faire ce petit clin d’oeil \u00e0 \u00ab\u00a0Just Dance\u00a0\u00bb que j’adore. Mais tout de suite apr\u00e8s cet intro, le morceau devient compl\u00e8tement diff\u00e9rent par la suite bien entendu. C’est juste un clin d’oeil que je me suis permis envers une autre artiste et sa chanson culte que j’appr\u00e9cie beaucoup. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mais mis \u00e0 part ces 2 exemples, j’essaye toujours de rester bien loin des samples et de ce genre de choses pour \u00e9viter tout probl\u00e8me de copyright ou de controverses inutiles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beaucoup d’artiste utilisent aussi pas mal les interpolations (c’est \u00e0 dire utiliser la m\u00eame m\u00e9lodie qu’un morceau existant mais en chantant quelque chose de compl\u00e8tement diff\u00e9rent dessus). Ava Max par exemple fait beaucoup cela mais moi pas. Bien que ma connaissance extensive en morceaux pass\u00e9es pourrait me le permettre mais je ne le fais pas, par choix. C’est une r\u00e8gle personnelle. Je ne fais jamais \u00e7a. M\u00eame si \u00e7a peut \u00eatre tr\u00e8s sympa quand c’est bien fait, je dois l’admettre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
