This album is what I call my 4 minutes album because even though it was not my intention in the first place, in the end I realized that most tracks on this album have almost all a duration of 4 minutes or more save a few exceptions only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This album also has the longest The Edit King track to date to feature on an album. \u00ab At Least You’ve Got Your Health \u00bb goes for 5 minutes and 43 seconds. It’s my longest track ever on an album.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I always admire albums by other artists which contains a very long song even though it’s not my speciality to say the least because most of my music albums and singles tracks don’t ever last for very long save maybe the extra-track \u00ab\u00a0Ain’t It Sad\u00a0\u00bb which was on the single \u00ab\u00a0Is It So Terrible\u00a0\u00bb which is the longest The Edit King track to date with it’s duration of 7 minutes and 32 seconds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And I always wanted to have a long album track since this day and it’s now done with \u00ab At Least You’ve Got Your Health \u00bb on the album \u00ab RED SUN \u00bb. I think that this track is quite epic so much I almost wanted to end the album with it before I wrote \u00ab High Energy Cure \u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This album has a lot of 80’s and 90’s feel I think. I’m always drawn to the 1980’s when I write my music because most of the music I enjoy came from these fabulous years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But I also enjoy a lot of techno and dance tracks so my albums are often also filled with these. The sounds from this album came a lot from the software Serum of Xfer Records.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It has a lot of beautiful and breathtaking sounds. The most beautiful sounds from this album came from this amazing software : sounds from \u00ab Something’s Wrong \u00bb, \u00ab High Energy Cure \u00bb or \u00ab Under The Red Sun \u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But as always a lot of sounds on this album also come from FL Studio which still is my favorite platform to create my music with. Tracks like \u00ab\u00a0All Out War\u00a0\u00bb or \u00ab\u00a0My Escape In The Air\u00a0\u00bb come from FL VSTs which also has some amazing sounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FL Studio is often my go-to sequencer-software to record and program my music. I sometimes tried other programs. I particularely like Samplitude which I used also quite often or Studio One) and I also used LMMS (Linux Multi Media Studio) for my 5th album for instance but I always revert back to FL in the end. It’s inevitable. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have to say that \u00ab\u00a0RED SUN\u00a0\u00bb is the last of my albums to have a pretty dark sound. The 3 final albums that will come next will be filled with more positive and more uplifting tracks. You won’t find tracks like \u00ab\u00a0Something’s Wrong\u00a0\u00bb or \u00ab\u00a0At Least You’ve Got Your Health \u00bb there\u00a0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m always inspired by the things that happens in my life and I wasn’t in a happy place when I wrote the album \u00ab RED SUN \u00bb. But sometimes challenges and bad things are good for inspiration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Actually a lot of my more positive musics were written when I was pretty miserable, that’s funny when you think about it. But it’s always been like that with me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I think that’s the reason most artists write their most poignant and beautiful songs when they are broke and inexperienced in the music world but as soon as they become professionnals their music becomes almost at the same time less and less interesting I think. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you’re broke and you don’t have a lot of money, it’s like you’ve got tons of inspiration and much less so when you become rich I guess. Maybe it’s all about money, I don’t know. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The track \u00ab\u00a0Like An Island Of Mine\u00a0\u00bb almost didn’t make it on the album. It was going to be an extra-track for a single but then I wrote \u00ab\u00a0High Energy Cure\u00a0\u00bb and not only did I have 11 songs for the album but I also had 5 other extra tracks for the singles, so finally \u00ab\u00a0Like An Island of Mine\u00a0\u00bb stayed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But before that even before the writting of \u00ab\u00a0High Energy Cure\u00a0\u00bb I had my 10 tracks and the album could have easily ended with the track \u00ab\u00a0At Least You’ve Got Your Health\u00a0\u00bb, but the writing of \u00ab\u00a0High Energy Cure\u00a0\u00bb changed everything, for the better I think because I like to end my albums on a positive note. Always. As a rule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because each time I write a brand new album, I always think this is going to be the last album I’ll ever wrote and I always want my albums to end on a positive note or with a track which has the potential to become a super mega hit if possible just in case I don’t get the chance to write another album next. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00ab\u00a0My Escape In The Air\u00a0\u00bb is a very strange title for a song I know but I wrote that about a work collegue of mine which recently had his licence to pilot a small helicopter and he said to us once how he felt peaceful up there with no-one around but him, his helicopter and the birds, so I was inspired by that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I love the robot voice used on the track \u00ab\u00a0Under The Red Sun\u00a0\u00bb I think it sounds great even though it was very hard sound to use and master for a melody because each time I pressed a key on the keyboard, almost every time it sounded different, never twice the same. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was very annoyed and unfuriated by this but it sounded so unique and cool that not only I kept it and since I felt this track was very special (even though it sounds almost sad) I decided that the whole album should be called \u00ab\u00a0RED SUN\u00a0\u00bb finally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The photo on the sleeve was taken by me. I was waiting for my train to go visit my sister and when I saw the sun with that strange color I decided it was beautiful enough that I should take a picture, hence the title even though it’s not very red it’s true, it’s more yellow but whatever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The name \u00ab\u00a0RED SUN\u00a0\u00bb is also a nod to a Japanese tokusatsu series I watched when I was a kid called Sharivan. In french, the hero turns himself into a robot by yelling what ? Well, Red Sun of course. Nobody will understand that but myself I guess but it’s a funny nod that I like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was often sick when I wrote this album which also explains why there are a lot of reference to cures or health in this album : like the tracks \u00ab\u00a0At Least You’ve Got Your Health\u00a0\u00bb, \u00ab\u00a0High Energy Cure\u00a0\u00bb and the extra-tracks to be available soon on the singles to come like \u00ab\u00a0The Only Good Remedy\u00a0\u00bb or \u00ab\u00a0The Happy Pill\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00ab\u00a0RED SUN\u00a0\u00bb is not only an album which has some dark sounding tracks but the themes and the lyrics were kinda despressing also on tracks like \u00ab\u00a0No Silver Lining\u00a0\u00bb, \u00ab\u00a0Something’s Wrong\u00a0\u00bb or \u00ab\u00a0Chip On Your Shoulder\u00a0\u00bb. It starts pretty dark with \u00ab\u00a0Something’s Wrong\u00a0\u00bb but also has some uplifting musics thankfully like \u00ab\u00a0All Out War\u00a0\u00bb, \u00ab\u00a0My Escape In The Air\u00a0\u00bb, \u00ab\u00a0Step Up Your Game\u00a0\u00bb or \u00ab\u00a0Lightning In My Mind\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cet album est ce que j’appelle mon album des 4 minutes car m\u00eame si ce n’\u00e9tait absolument pas intentionnel je me suis rendu compte apr\u00e8s l’avoir \u00e9crit que presque tous les titres faisaient preque tous au moins 4 minutes ou plus \u00e0 quelques rares exceptions pr\u00e8s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cet album comporte aussi l’un des titres les plus longs \u00e9crits par moi et figurant sur un de mes albums, le titre \u00ab\u00a0At Least You’ve Got Your Health\u00a0\u00bb qui dure 5 minutes et 43 seconds. C’est mon titre le plus long jamais paru sur un de mes albums.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

J’ai toujours admir\u00e9 les albums par d’autres artistes que moi qui avaient des titres parfois super longs mais ce n’est pas ma sp\u00e9cialit\u00e9 c’est le moins que l’on puisse dire car g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement sur tous mes albums ou mes singles on trouve tr\u00e8s rarement des titres longs \u00e0 l’exception du titre bonus \u00ab\u00a0Ain’t It Sad\u00a0\u00bb qui figurait sur le single \u00ab\u00a0Is It So Terrible\u00a0\u00bb sorti en 2022 et qui est le titre le plus long que j’ai jamais \u00e9crit (hors versions longues de singles bien s\u00fbr) avec ses 7 minutes et 32 secondes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

J’ai toujours voulu \u00e9crire un titre long d’album, aussi \u00e0 pr\u00e9sent c’est chose faite avec le morceau \u00ab\u00a0At Least You’ve Got Your Health\u00a0\u00bb de l’album \u00ab\u00a0RED SUN\u00a0\u00bb. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Je pense que c’est un titre assez \u00e9pique et grandiose. Si bien que j’avais vraiment pens\u00e9 finir l’album avec ce titre avant que je n’en vienne \u00e0 \u00e9crire ensuite \u00ab\u00a0High Energy Cure\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cet album sonne tr\u00e8s ann\u00e9es 80 et ann\u00e9es 90 je trouve. Je suis toujours tr\u00e8s attir\u00e9 vers les ann\u00e9es 80 tant j’ai aim\u00e9 et j’aime toujours beaucoup la musique de ces fabuleuses ann\u00e9es-l\u00e0. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mais j’appr\u00e9cie aussi beaucoup la techno et la dance aussi mes albums sont aussi souvent remplis de titres de ce genre. Les sons de cet album proviennent en grande partie du logiciel Serum de Xfer Records.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il y a beaucoup de sons tr\u00e8s beaux et \u00e0 couper le souffle je trouve. Et les sons les plus beaux viennent souvent de ce logiciel S\u00e9rum comme les sons des titres \u00ab\u00a0Something’s Wrong\u00a0\u00bb, \u00ab\u00a0High Energy Cure\u00a0\u00bb ou \u00ab\u00a0Under The Red Sun\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mais comme souvent avec moi j’ai aussi pas mal utilis\u00e9 des sons en provenance du logiciel FL Studio et de ses synth\u00e9s virtuels (ou VST). Des titres comme \u00ab\u00a0All Out War\u00a0\u00bb ou \u00ab\u00a0My Escape In The Air\u00a0\u00bb utilisent des sons de FL dont certains sont aussi tr\u00e8s efficaces. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

FL Studio est mon logiciel-s\u00e9quenceur privil\u00e9gi\u00e9 pour enregistrer et programmer ma musique. Parfois j’ai tent\u00e9 d’autres aventures (j’ai bien aim\u00e9 en particulier utiliser de temps en temps Samplitude ou Studio One entre autres) et j’ai aussi utilis\u00e9 parfois LMMS (Linux Multi Media Studio) pour mon 5\u00e8me album par exemple mais \u00e0 terme je reviens toujours \u00e0 FL t\u00f4t ou tard au bout du compte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Je dois dire que \u00ab\u00a0RED SUN\u00a0\u00bb est le dernier de mes albums qui aura un son un peu sombre. Les 3 derniers albums qui suivront (et qui sont d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e9crits \u00e0 l’heure o\u00f9 j’\u00e9cris ces lignes) seront beaucoup plus remplis de titres enjou\u00e9s et positifs que mes 2 derniers albums. Sur les 3 prochains on ne trouvera plus des titres pesants (bien que puissants) comme \u00ab\u00a0Something’s Wrong\u00a0\u00bb ou \u00ab\u00a0At Least You’ve Got Your
Health \u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Comme la plupart des musiciens j’imagine je m’inspire toujours dans ma musique de ce qui m’arrive dans ma vie et m\u00eame si j’adore cet album, je n’\u00e9tais clairement pas heureux au moment de son \u00e9criture. Mais parfois les difficult\u00e9s de la vie sont bonnes pour l’inspiration. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

En fait j’ai remarqu\u00e9 que souvent, mes musiques les plus dansantes et les plus enjou\u00e9es ont souvent \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9crites quand j’\u00e9tais vraiment d\u00e9prim\u00e9 ou malheureux. C’est dr\u00f4le quand j’y pense, non ? Mais l’inspiration a toujours fonctionn\u00e9 pour moi quand j’\u00e9tais pas bien et pas quand je suis heureux.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Je pense que c’est peut-\u00eatre la raison pour laquelle les titres les plus poignants et les plus beaux sont souvent \u00e9crits par les artistes lorsqu’ils sont pauvres ou encore des musiciens exp\u00e9riment\u00e9s. D\u00e8s qu’ils deviennent de grands de l’industrie musicales, souvent leur musique devient plus ennuyeuse et moins int\u00e9ressante. Enfin c’est mon avis et c’est ce que j’ai souvent constat\u00e9 surtout. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quand tu es fauch\u00e9 et que tu n’as pas trop d’argent, c’est la que l’inspiration arrive par camions entiers mais d\u00e8s que tu deviens riche, tu n’as presque plus rien \u00e0 d’autres. Tout serait-il donc juste une question d’argent ? Je ne sais pas mais j’en ai un peu l’impression je l’avoue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le titre \u00ab\u00a0Like An Island Of Mine\u00a0\u00bb a failli ne pas figurer sur l’album. Cela a failli \u00eatre juste un titre bonus pr\u00e9vu pour figurer sur l’un des singles puis j’ai \u00e9crit \u00ab\u00a0High Energy Cure\u00a0\u00bb et non seulement j’avais d\u00e9j\u00e0 11 titres pour l’album mais j’avais aussi d\u00e9j\u00e0 les 5 titres bonus qui allaient figurer sur les diff\u00e9rents singles \u00e0 sortir, aussi \u00ab\u00a0Like An Island of Mine\u00a0\u00bb est rest\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mais sans \u00e7a, m\u00eame avant l’\u00e9criture de \u00ab\u00a0High Energy Cure\u00a0\u00bb j’avais mes 10 titres et l’album aurait pu tout \u00e0 fait s’arr\u00eater avec \u00ab\u00a0At Least You’ve Got Your Health\u00a0\u00bb, mais l’\u00e9criture de \u00ab\u00a0High Energy Cure\u00a0\u00bb a tout chang\u00e9, pour le meilleur car j’aime toujours finir mes albums sur une note positive que sur une note n\u00e9gative. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Je pense toujours que mes albums quand je les \u00e9crits seront les derniers et je ne voudrais pas finir sur un titre triste, je pr\u00e9f\u00e8re toujours finir avec une note positive et un titre au potentiel d’\u00eatre un super-tube tant qu’\u00e0 faire. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00ab\u00a0My Escape In The Air\u00a0\u00bb est un titre tr\u00e8s \u00e9trange je l’admets bien volontiers mais j’ai \u00e9crit ce titre apr\u00e8s avoir din\u00e9 avec un ancien coll\u00e8gue de bureau \u00e0 moi qui avait eu sa licence de pilote d’h\u00e9licopt\u00e8re et qui nous disait pendant le repas justement \u00e0 quel point quand il volait, il oubliait tous ses soucis et \u00e0 quel point c’est calme l\u00e0 avec juste le ciel, lui et les oiseaux. Et j’ai \u00e9t\u00e9 inspir\u00e9 par \u00e7a d’o\u00f9 ce titre appel\u00e9 mon \u00e9chapp\u00e9e dans les airs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

J’adore la voix de robot utilis\u00e9e sur la m\u00e9lodie principale du titre \u00ab\u00a0Under The Red Sun\u00a0\u00bb je pense que cette voix robotique sonne super chouette m\u00eame si elle a \u00e9t\u00e9 un cauchemar \u00e0 programmer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

En effet \u00e0 chaque fois qu’on appuyait sur une m\u00eame touche de piano, la voix robotique ne sonnait jamais 2 fois pareil alors allez faire une m\u00e9lodie coh\u00e9rente avec un truc comme \u00e7a, \u00e7a me rappelle un peu les vocoders tr\u00e8s utilis\u00e9s dans la musique des ann\u00e9es 80 mais c’est rigolo je trouve. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Donc m\u00eame si la m\u00e9lodie de ce morceau a \u00e9t\u00e9 tr\u00e8s difficile \u00e0 programmer pour obtenir le r\u00e9sultat que je souhaite au final j’en suis tr\u00e8s satisfait de ce morceau au point d’appeler l’album lui-m\u00eame \u00ab\u00a0RED SUN\u00a0\u00bb m\u00eame si c’est loin d’\u00eatre le titre le plus embl\u00e9matique ou le plus fort du disque. Cette m\u00e9lodie le rend toutefois unique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La photo sur la pochette du disque a \u00e9t\u00e9 prise par moi-m\u00eame. Je visitais ma soeur qui habite dans une ville voisine de la mienne et pendant que j’attendais mon train, j’ai vu le soleil dehors qui avait cette dr\u00f4le de couleur qui tiens presque plus du jaune que du rouge, mais bon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Comme je voulais vraiment que l’album s’appelle RED SUN et pas YELLOW SUN lol, on va dire que le soleil est bien rouge, ok. En plus personne ne le sait mais ce titre est aussi un clin d’oeil \u00e0 une s\u00e9rie japonaise que j’aimais quand j’\u00e9tais gamin qui s’appelait Sharivan et dont le h\u00e9ros se changeait en robot en criant justement quoi ? Eh bah soleil rouge, ah ah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

J’\u00e9tais souvent malade quand j’ai compos\u00e9 cet album ce qui explique un peu pas mal de r\u00e9f\u00e9rences aux m\u00e9dicaments et \u00e0 la sant\u00e9 dans les titres et les paroles des morceaux comme sur \u00ab\u00a0At Least You’ve Got Your Health\u00a0\u00bb (au moins vous avez la sant\u00e9), \u00ab\u00a0High Energy Cure\u00a0\u00bb (rem\u00e8de \u00e0 grande efficacit\u00e9) ou encore les titres in\u00e9dits qui figureront sur les singles \u00e0 venir et qui ont tous \u00e9t\u00e9 compos\u00e9 \u00e0 la m\u00eame p\u00e9riode que l’album comme \u00ab\u00a0The Only Good Remedy\u00a0\u00bb (le seul bon rem\u00e8de) ou encore \u00ab\u00a0The Happy Pill\u00a0\u00bb (la pilule du bonheur).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00ab\u00a0RED SUN\u00a0\u00bb est non seulement un album avec des titres parfois sombre mais aussi avec des paroles de chansons pas tr\u00e8s optimistes sur des titres comme \u00ab\u00a0No Silver Lining\u00a0\u00bb (aucune lueur d’espoir), \u00ab\u00a0Something’s Wrong\u00a0\u00bb (quelque chose ne vas pas) ou encore \u00ab\u00a0Chip On Your Shoulder\u00a0\u00bb (qui peut \u00eatre traduit par Descends de ton pi\u00e9destal ou ne soit pas si pr\u00e9tentieux). Mais m\u00eame si l’album commence de fa\u00e7on assez sombre et brutal avec le titre \u00ab\u00a0Something’s Wrong\u00a0\u00bb il y a aussi, heureusement quelques musiques positives et sautillantes aussi telles que \u00ab\u00a0All Out War\u00a0\u00bb (c’est une guerre ouverte), \u00ab\u00a0My Escape In The Air\u00a0\u00bb (mon \u00e9chappatoire dans les airs), \u00ab\u00a0Step Up Your Game\u00a0\u00bb (mets-toi au niveau) ou enfin \u00ab\u00a0Lightning In My Mind\u00a0\u00bb (il y a de l’orage dans mon esprit).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
