On Wednesday, February 7th 2025, \u00ab Play My Way \u00bb was released. It is the first of two singles to be lifted from The Edit King’s 2nd official Singles Retrospective called \u00ab The Singles Volume 2 \u00bb released 1 week after the single on Wednesday, February 14th 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00ab Play My Way \u00bb is one of the very few ballads of The Edit King released as a single after \u00ab Watch Me Now \u00bb, also released on February of 2022 and \u00ab Fly Over The Night Sky, My Love \u00bb released on August of that same year of 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With this song I wrote 3 other songs which were all a possible direction I could take after the very danceable 3rd album \u00ab RAVE PARTY \u00bb. I wanted to emulate big ol’ ballads of the 80’s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I love the drums on it, it reminds of a single by German singer Sandra called \u00ab Stop For A Minute \u00bb which I love very much. So it is completely on purpose as you can imagine. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This single contains the following tracks : <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the first single (out of 2) that will be released to celebrate my new collection of Singles called \u00ab Singles Volume 2 \u00bb which will be released shortly, in a matter of days only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A lot of people would have probably advice me to release track 2 as a single instead of track 1 but what I love about being an independant artist if that I really can do whatever the hell I want and I love that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Plus I really love \u00ab Play My Way \u00bb so much more than I do \u00ab Alone But Not Lonely \u00bb so there’s no \u00ab playing \u00bb here so to speak. But the 2 songs blend well together I think.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And so do the 2 songs of the next single to be released in March 2025. I really wanted to make a whole new album with that style but as it often happens I wrote a lot of tracks after that that went into a complete opposite direction which I loved even more, so…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But I was really adamant that contrary to the previous compilation of singles \u00ab Singles Volume 1 \u00bb which had only 1 brand new track on it called \u00ab Life Is Short \u00bb, I wanted to give more the fans here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So having 2 brand new tracks on a single compilation and doing what a lot of artists I love often did too in their earliest retrospective of singles (Sandra, Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode, Madonna), this was non-negotiable and a staple for all singles retrospectives to come (if there are more). But I think they will be at least another one for sure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The song \u00ab Play My Way \u00bb is very special to me. My sister said that the last time she was playing it when she was in her bath, this song made her cry by its raw beautifulness. And that’s the kind of reaction I was going for and why I love to write music. Not just for me, but for the others too. And it has a special meaning to them too, then I’m happy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cover\/sleeve of this single is very colourful and plays a lot with the colours against a black background like the sleeve of my first album \u00ab ROBOTIC HYPNOTIC \u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I still have compliments about this record sleeve and people often tell me \u00ab you should make another one like this \u00bb so this is a nod to then and a reminder to the fans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le mercredi 7 f\u00e9vrier 2025, \u00ab Play My Way \u00bb est sorti. Il s’agit du premier (de deux singles) qui va sortir extrait de ma seconde r\u00e9trospective de singles qui va s’appeler tout logiquement \u00ab Singles Volume 2 \u00bb et qui sortira seulement 1 semaine apr\u00e8s ce disque le vendredi 14 f\u00e9vrier 2025 pour la Saint Valentin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00ab Play My Way \u00bb est une des rares ballades de The Edit King sortie en single comme \u00ab Watch Me Now \u00bb sorti en f\u00e9vrier 2022 ou \u00ab Fly Over The Night Sky, My Love \u00bb sorti au mois d’ao\u00fbt de cette m\u00eame ann\u00e9e 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Avec ce titre j’ai \u00e9crit 3 autres morceaux qui \u00e9taient toutes une direction possible pour un nouvel album apr\u00e8s l’album tr\u00e8s dance \u00ab RAVE PARTY \u00bb. Avec ce titre je souhaitais \u00e9muler les grandes ballades des ann\u00e9es 80’s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

J’adore la batterie sur ce morceau, elle me rappelle la batterie sur le single \u00ab Stop For A Minute \u00bb de la chanteuse allemande Sandra que j’aime vraiment beaucoup. Donc cette ressemblance est parfaitement voulue comme vous pouvez l’imaginer. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ceci est le premier des 2 singles qui vont sortir extraits de ma prochaine collection de singles appel\u00e9e \u00ab Singles Volume 2 \u00bb qui sortira sous peu, dans quelques jours seulement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beaucoup de personnes m’auraient s\u00fbrement conseill\u00e9 de sortir le titre 2, lui beaucoup plus \u00e9nergique que ce titre 1 en single. Mais c’est ce que j’appr\u00e9cie tout particuli\u00e8rement dans le fait d’\u00eatre un artiste ind\u00e9pendant : je peux faire exactement ce que je veux et non pas ce que l’on pourrait attendre de moi et j’adore cette libert\u00e9-l\u00e0. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

En plus j’adore vraiment plus le titre \u00ab Play My Way \u00bb que le titre 2 \u00ab Alone But Not Lonely \u00bb alors je suis honn\u00eate et je ne joue pas, l\u00e0. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Avec le son tr\u00e8s ann\u00e9es 80 de ces 2 titres ainsi qu’avec les 2 titres qui figureront sur le prochain single qui sortira d\u00e9but mars 2025, je voulais vraiment \u00e9crire tout un album comme \u00e7a. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sauf que, comme souvent, les autres titres \u00e9crits apr\u00e8s eux m’ont vu aller dans une tout autre direction bien plus \u00e9lectronique, moderne et plus dance-techno, ainsi ces titres sont les 4 seuls \u00e0 avoir ce style bien pr\u00e9cis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Donc les mettre en bonus dans une compilation de singles terminant une p\u00e9riode faisait sens. Et surtout je voulais contrairement \u00e0 la premi\u00e8re compilation de singles \u00ab Singles Volume 1 \u00bb qui n’avait qu’un seul titre in\u00e9dit appel\u00e9 \u00ab Life Is Short \u00bb, je voulais que cette compilation ci n’aient pas seulement 1 mais 2 titres in\u00e9dits cette fois.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Et avoir 2 titres in\u00e9dits sur les compilations de singles, c’\u00e9tait aussi ce que faisaient les artistes que j’aimais bien quand j’\u00e9tais jeunes lors de leurs premi\u00e8res compilations de singles (c’est le cas par exemple de Sandra, des Pet Shop Boys, de Depeche Mode ou encore de Madonna).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ainsi avoir 2 titres in\u00e9dits sur cette nouvelle compilations de singles \u00e9tait une chose non n\u00e9gotiable pour moi pour ce prochain disque-ci mais aussi sur toutes les prochaines compilations \u00e0 venir (si il y en a d’autres et je pense qu’il y en aura au moins encore une autre) \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le titre \u00ab\u00a0Play My Way\u00a0\u00bb est vraiment sp\u00e9cial pour moi. Ma soeur m’a dit que la derni\u00e8re fois qu’elle l’avait \u00e9cout\u00e9e, elle \u00e9tait dans son bain et que ce titre l’avait faite pleurer tant elle l’avait trouv\u00e9e belle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

C’est pour \u00e7a que je fais de la musique, non seulement pour m’\u00e9mouvoir moi mais si en plus j’apprends qu’elle \u00e9meut les autres, alors j’en suis tr\u00e8s tr\u00e8s heureux. J’\u00e9cris de la musique pour moi mais aussi pour les autres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La pochette de ce single est tr\u00e8s color\u00e9e et joue bien des couleurs contre un fond noir comme pouvoir le faire la pochette de mon premier album \u00ab\u00a0ROBOTIC HYPNOTIC \u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Encore aujourd’hui on me fait des compliments sur cette pochette, disant que je devrais en faire d’autres comme \u00e7a, donc cette nouvelle pochette est un clin d’oeil aux fans et l\u00e0 encore, cette ressemblance est totalement voulue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
